Today women do all sorts of jobs, but before the Civil War women in America weren’t considered capable of doing so many jobs. During the civil war, however, there were many jobs that women did. Women could work as nurses, secret soldiers and spies. They could also help raise money for all sorts of supplies. Lots of women helped out, but some women went above and beyond. These women included Harriet Tubman, Rose O’Neal Greenhow, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Sojourner Truth, and Clara Barton. During the war women had a chance to show the world what they could do and many, many women rose to the occasion.
